The president is elected by Parliament for a five-year term and
Konstandinos (Kostis) Stephanopoulis has been president since 1995
and the next election expected to be held in 2005.
The head of government is Prime Minister Konstandinos Karamanlis who
heads a cabinet appointed by the president on the recommendation of
the prime minister.
