> New South Wales
NSW is
the Easternmost state of the union. Bigger than some
small countries, the
landscape ranges from a magnificent coast line with
secluded untouched beaches, to extensive national
parks & forests, mountains, snowfields and alpine
wilderness, rural scenery and an array of towns large
and small with hundreds
of great holiday spots.
Sydney is a focal point to start exploring,
you can go west into the World Heritage listed Blue
Mountains for bushwalking, rock climbing and camping.
In fact the picturesque town of Katoomba, and every
Blue Mountains Village has it's own unique bush walks
and outdoor experiences. Take the scenic railway,
stroll to Echo Point lookout & the Three Sisters
rock formations or other cliff top views, or visit
the nearby Jenolan Caves.
The
Holiday Coast extends from the nature reserve of
Myall Lakes to the bustling resort town of
Coffs Harbour, with a great range of
activities, a balmy subtropical climate. Further
north is the well-known diving and whale-watching
area of Byron Bay & you can swim with dolphins.
On the
Central Coast there is the Hawkesbury River and
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The Hunter Valley
with over 80 vineyards and wineries, many superb
restaurants and cafes in the colonial townships.
There are many excellent beaches, lakes and parks.
Inland in
what is called the Central West region and promoted
as Explorer Country you will find gold
rush towns, more wineries and national parks. Visit
Bathhurst, Australias oldest inland town, the
Dubbo zoo and Warrumbungles National Park.
The
Hunter Valley is NSW's premier
wine region just 2 hours drive from Sydney.
The
North-West is more remote, but is a very hospitable
region where you can visit the black opal area of
Lightning Ridge and the country festival town of
Tamworth.
The ideal
way to explore New South Wales is by car as the roads
are good and you can take time to explore the natural, unspoiled environment for
either a peaceful, relaxing or an
adventurous time in contact with Australia's unique
flora and fauna.
