Australia is a
nation which loves it's motor sports with
Melbourne on the formula one circuit and
perhaps the most popular events are the V8
Super Car Series. The rivalry that is
primarily between the Australian made cars
Holden and Ford. The skills of the drivers is
amazing as they handle their 300 plus
horsepower
5 litre V8 cars on twisting circuits
where there is often contact and many spills.

Bathurst 1000
Held at Mt Panorama and known the
world over simply as "Bathurst",
the Bob Jane T-Marts sponsored 1000km race is
the icon Australian motor sport event full of
thrills and excitement and will be held this
year from October 10 -13. Bathurst is a three
hour drive inland from
Sydney.
Queensland 500
Sponsored by V.I.P. Petfoods, The
Queensland 500 is an event in the V8 Supercar
Championship series. 2002 - 13 -15 September.
Formula One
The Australian Grand Prix first
became a world championship event in 1985,
when the race took place in Adelaide and has
now been moved to Australia's Albert Park in
Melbourne. It is one of only three tracks
officially designated as street circuits, the
others being Montreal and Monaco.
The track Length is 5.303 km with 16 corners
and a maximum speed of 185 mph on the
start/finish straight. Michael Schumacher
held 2001 the race lap record 1m28.214s.
Formula 3
Is an International open wheel
racing category, recognised world wide as a
training category for the exciting world of
Formula One racing.
Formula 3 Australia has adopted FIA
international specifications, meaning any
driver can now race an open wheeler similar
to those which launched the careers of many
F1 drivers like Senna, Prost, Hakkinen,
Irvine or Jenson Button. The cars run tightly
controlled 2 litre production engines using
sophisticated engine management systems to
maximize power output, allowing driver skill
and team preparation to decide results.
Popular engines are Toyota, Mugen Honda, Opel
Spiess, Mitsubishi, Alfa, Fiat and Renault,
with Dallara being the preferred chassis.
