Lake Lyndon
Just

Lyndon is a small lake near Porters Pass in the Canterbury region of New
Zealand's South Island.
This is popular picnic and fishing
(for rainbow trout) spot is on route to Arthurs Pass.
The lake partially freezes in winter and when the roads are clear of snow, 100's of
people flock there to play and toboggan in the snow or skate on the ice.
There are many miles of walking trails on the surrounding hills and the
Korowai/Torlesse Tussocklands Park which covers approximately 21,000

have remarkable flora and fauna with slim-leaved snow tussock/wì kura and
high altitude tussock grasslands.
Getting there:
From Christchurch, drive west on SH73 through Springfield and over
Porter Pass, the lake is just 2km down from the Porters Pass summit.
As a day trip, the confident driver may return to Christchurch via the
gravel road to Lake Coleridge and the Rakia Gorge.
