Riccarton Market
Great place to
shop, find those unusual gifts, and meet some
interesting Kiwis.
The selection of
goods ranges from fresh fruits and vegetables, second
hand goods to fit out a kitchen or a house. Old and
new furniture, old and new clothing, garden plants
and ornaments, designer apparel, art, food and
coffee, entertainment for small children, places to
sit and people watch.
Most goods are
locally made although you will find a small selection
of Asian imports.
The market opens
just after 8.00 am and closes at 2.00 pm. On a busy
day there may be 15,000 shoppers and typically about
10,000 come every Sunday to purchase from the 100's
of stalls.
You will find some
prices are set, though you can haggle.
The market is held
at Riccarton Raceway (horse racing) with ample
parking and 15 minutes drive from the central
city. It is run and organized by The Rotary
Club of Riccarton.
If you want to
rent a stall to sell your goods, call the market
manager on 03 339 0011 during business hours. |
