Ashburton
Ashburton
is a service town for the farming communities of the
South Canterbury Plains. It is home to many wool
spinning and weaving enthusiasts, examples which can be
seen at the Ashford Village Craft Markets off the
by-pass through through the town.
Of
interest is the Art Gallery with ever changing
exhibitions and the Museum with early colonial
historical relics and information on the area's
history. Also just out of town, there is a newly
created lake and recreation area. |
