Tauranga is a vibrant
New Zealand city situated on the east
coast of the North Island. It is the
sixth largest city in New Zealand
with a population of approximately
90,000 people and is only 200k (a
comfortable 3 hours drive) from
Auckland.
With one of the best
climates in the country, the region
is renowned for it's subtropical
orchards with kiwi fruit, avocados
and citrus, and
you will find stunning beaches and
subtropical rain forests which make
it one of New Zealand's most popular

to Blenheim
it is reputed to be the sunniest
place in New Zealand. It also has the
second highest growth rate in terms

Tauranga and the nearby
beach resort of Mt Maunganui boast a
wide variety of tourist activities in
one compact and stunning location.
Mount Maunganui is the remains of an
ancient volcanic area and has a very popular and beautiful
beach area. Activities in Tauranga
and Mount Maunganui include
parasailing, abseiling, surfing,
organized game fishing, sea kayaking,
windsurfing, sailing, rocket bungy.
And do not forget to take the scenic
flight over the still active and
erupting White Island volcano.
After, a busy day of
adventure there are hot pools to soak
in at the base of Mount Maunganui and
there is always shopping in both
Tauranga and Mt Maunganui which have
an excellent variety of shops which
are open seven days a week.
Tauranga has a
wide range of health providers,
including the Tauranga Hospital,
Health spas, massage, osteopaths,
health shops, chiropractors,
dermatologists and physios and Mount Maunganui
locally referred to as "the mount" is one of NZ"s most popular destinations
for sun, surf and live music on the beach over the Xmas/new year period.
