FOOD & BEVERAGE
New Zealand diet is
similar to the developed Western world. We have the finest
presentations in the style of most major countries in our modern
restaurants. You will find KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Starbucks,
and other chains like Robbies and Cobb and Co. With the influx
of migrants, there are now masses of Sushi Bars and very smart
Japanese, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean Restaurants,
as well as French, Swiss and Italian Restaurants.
For Cheap Eating:
One of the most basic meals is 'fish and chips'. The fish
fillets are dipped in batter and deep fried with potato chips. Two
pieces of fish and a scoop of chips is usually around NZ$4.00 -
$6.00, mostly for takeaway.. Other low cost meals for less than
$20.00 can
also be had at the many Asian or Middle Eastern takeaway bars and
from around $18 - $30.00 for the main course at reasonable restaurants.
For the home cook, you will find city shops,
markets and roadside stalls selling certified organic produce. Most
cities also have vegetarian, and organic restaurants.
Organic certification agencies are; Bio Grow and
Demeter..
Cafe Culture
Almost
everywhere you will find restaurants and cafe's with excellent coffee.
For the coffee connoisseur, supreme coffee is considered the best. Others
like Robert Harris abound. With this you also have a wide range of wines
bars.
